Italy Day 2- 22 Nov 08
Milan - The Last Supper / Lake Como
I really need a full breakfast or I will turn sulky.

This is Chiesa Di Santa Maria Delle Grazie where the painting, The Last Supper, was kept. We had a hard time getting there and were misled by many Italians who just could not understand ang moh and finally an ah pek showed us the way. Hallelujah!

We were ON TIME. Phew! Cos the tickets were reserved when I was in Singapore and it was really difficult to get them. You have to get the tickets 6 months before but after much research I tried my luck via phone and viola... I got my wish!

I finally could understand the fuss about that one painting by Leonardo. Interestingly, it was done on a wall and the positions of the apostles including their body language brings out the painter's interpretation of the biblical story. It is a drawing with a lot of thoughts placed into it. If only art was taught this way, then I might have passed ;P
Anyway, we are not allowed to take pictures of precious drawings - general rule.

We proceeded to Lake Como as my travelling companion needed natural scenery.

Before we toured the lake in the hydrofoil, we visited the small town near the train station. It has a pretty decent duomo.

We are fairly lucky when it comes time. We managed to get the tickets for the hydrofoil before the counter closed for lunch.

A grand hotel overlooking the lake. Scenic!

As recommended by the book, we came to Bellagio island.

A quaint and charming town but it is extremely quiet due to low season. Most shops are closed. Even the villas are not opened for us to view. We ended up just strolling along the cobbled streets.

Basilica of St James

Although this is drinking water, the basin was rather choked. So, we just posed and looked cute.

I like the ducks above. So National Geographic. Credit goes to Xiaowen!

We are leaving Milan and going to Florence. This means homework time. Again, I am lucky to have a travel companion who is also good with direction!

The hostel in Florence where we even had to lay our own bedsheet. Duh!
